Dear NIBA Members and Supporters,

2015 NIBA Membership:

Thank you for your continued support of the only independent organization supporting IBs, CTAs, and APs. Your support, participation, and your investment in your business is what makes the NIBA possible. If you are not a member yet we invite you to join now. With each new member our influence and voice becomes stronger and everyone in the community benefits. Please take a few minutes to join or renew your membership online.

I believe membership in the NIBA is the most efficient and effective way for you to expand your business opportunities and professional development. To benefit from your membership to the fullest I encourage you to make an investment of time and effort in NIBA’s activities and become involved in the association. Simply put, what you get out of your membership is directly relative to what you put in.

Some of the benefits of membership include:

NIBA Futures Broker and CTA Directory

All IBs and CTAs are listed in the Broker Directory with a click-thru from the NIBA to your Website. IBs and CTAs can also choose Premier Listing, which includes a logo click-thru and superior search result placement.

NIBA Journal - Online Newsletter

A dedicated online newsletter to futures professionals to help members stay informed, current and connected.

Advocacy

By joining NIBA, you become an advocate for the industry. Even if you don’t actively participate in the lobbying efforts, your membership dues help to fund those efforts. The NIBA effectively represents your opinions before the CFTC and NFA with in-person meetings and opinion letters. With increased industry regulations affecting the daily operations of our member’s businesses this is an increasingly important benefit.

Networking

One of the biggest advantages of membership in NIBA is the networking and camaraderie that takes place among our members. I can’t think of a better way to build relationships and connections with other professionals in the industry. The ability to compare notes about industry trends, discuss common concerns, and trade professional experiences is priceless.

Conferences and Seminars

Our annual meetings give you incredible access to the individuals who are moving our industry along.

Mark your calendars for our annual meetings in southern California on February 19, New York on April 30, and Chicago on September 24.

Gain a Competitive Edge

In our fast changing industry there’s a lot going on and it’s often difficult to stay on top of the news. NIBA is a great and convenient way to keep current on news and developments.

Discounts

Membership allows access to a variety of privileges, as a number of vendors, suppliers and resource providers to the industry grant discounts to NIBA members toward their products and services.

Act Now

Your membership dues are currently due and can be paid by credit card or Pay Pal. If you have any questions, suggestions or just want to talk, contact me at jjensen@hwfi.com or Melinda Schramm, Chairman, melinda@futuresrep.com.

Regards,

John C. Jensen

From the Classroom to the Trading Floor

There is no single, clearly defined education path for entering the derivatives industry as professionals come from a range of academic backgrounds. Still, higher education plays a crucial role in preparing students for success in this complex and fast-evolving field. A strong foundation in finance, economics, and mathematics is essential. At the undergraduate level, students should prioritize courses in financial markets and institutions, investment analysis, corporate finance, and introductory derivatives. Just as important are courses in statistics and calculus, which help build the analytical and quantitative skills required for understanding pricing models, volatility, and risk management strategies. With the increasing reliance on algorithmic trading and quantitative research, a concentration or minor in applied mathematics, data science, or computer programming can...
