You're Invited!

You're invited to the fall NIBA Membership Conference, September 22 in Chicago. This is a full day of education, information and networking designed to give you the tools for a successful business.

The day begins with a floor tour at the historic Chicago Board of Trade, along with a continental breakfast. That's followed by a session on compliance issues specifically focused on swaps participants, and a panel of experts discussing tax issues and changes every IB and CTA needs to be aware of.

Box Lunches will be served at the CME Group Building. We are happy to announce Blu Putnam, Managing Director and Chief Economist, CME Group as our luncheon speaker. The afternoon program includes a session on the BIG compliance issues we are all facing - CFTC Reg. 1.22 and Reg. 1.35; a panel presentation focused on marketing and compliance for CTAs and IBs who utilize CTA programs; and our annual review with the NFA IB and CTA elected representatives.

The Demo Hall will be open all afternoon at the CME Group Building and we'll wrap up the day with a cocktail reception. You can register for the entire day or just a portion of it.

During the year, the NIBA membership comes together several times. This year we met in southern California in early March, in New York City on May 1 and at DePaul University in July. This annual September meeting traditionally draws over 250 IBs, CTAs and other members. They take away actionable revenue-generating and compliance ideas for business growth which can be used immediately in their offices.  For the past 23 years, during each of our conferences, NIBA members share experiences and opinions, and renew friendships with their colleagues.

You are invited September 22, 2014. The event is free for all NIBA members. If you are not a current member, you'll have an opportunity to join when you register. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

If you have not already registered to attend the conference please do so HERE

From the Classroom to the Trading Floor

There is no single, clearly defined education path for entering the derivatives industry as professionals come from a range of academic backgrounds. Still, higher education plays a crucial role in preparing students for success in this complex and fast-evolving field. A strong foundation in finance, economics, and mathematics is essential. At the undergraduate level, students should prioritize courses in financial markets and institutions, investment analysis, corporate finance, and introductory derivatives. Just as important are courses in statistics and calculus, which help build the analytical and quantitative skills required for understanding pricing models, volatility, and risk management strategies. With the increasing reliance on algorithmic trading and quantitative research, a concentration or minor in applied mathematics, data science, or computer programming can...
